OUR LIFE IS

“Jesus Christ has called us into the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. We want to surrender ourselves to God through a life lived according to the evangelical counsels and to serve our neighbor with compassionate love.” [The Constitutions 101]

During his life on earth, Jesus Christ called certain people to the faith in God and to the service for their neighbor. Since the early days of the Church, Christians have gathered in community to accept the challenges of the Gospel and to support each other in living out their vocation. Jesus Christ continues to call the people and has called us especially into the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. In response to this call, we want to dedicate ourselves to God through a life lived according to the evangelical counsels and to serve our neighbor with compassionate love. [cf. the Constitutions]

Jesus urges us to pray always without becoming weary (Lk 18,1) and he himself becomes our example. Through the Liturgy of the Hours, we participate in the prayer of the Church. We glorify God in praise and in our gratitude to Him and entrust to Him with the concerns of our time, of our Congregation and of those who need our help through the intercessions. [cf. the Constitutions]

Love for the Lord and the same vocation for all to serve in charity have brought us together as a community. Community life is an essential element in our life. Our life together is modeled on that of the early Christian communities. [The Constitutions]

Our consecrated life with Christ reaches its consummation at the moment of death. Then we will be welcomed into his loving arms and experience the Christ’s power of resurrection. “So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. Because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4, 16. 18) [cf. the Constitutions]
